TV 01 - The Flashing Blade

In a companion piece to my film viewing here is a trip down memory lane to the time when the children's TV schedule was dotted with series from other countries - although unfortunately badly dubbed.

Number one 'The Flashing Blade'

This serialisation appeared quite regularly during the summer holiday's back in the seventies. The plot was pretty much irrelevant. The important part was that there was a man with a sword who you could pretend to be later in the garden with a stick!

Originally from France 'Le chevalier Tempête' tells the story of François de Ricci during the 17th Century war between France and Spain. François was played by Robert Etcheverry but it’s his sidekick Guillot, played by Jacques Balutin, who links nicely to this blog as he also portrayed the Hotel Manger in 'What's New Pussycat?'

The theme song was called 'Fight' and was performed by a band called The Musketeers (now there's a coincidence!)

A Town Called Panic - Mark Kermode Review

I'll be dipping into the reviews of Mark Kermode when I can during this challenge. Mainly because he is, understandably, far better at critiquing films than myself but also because, along with co-host Simon Mayo, he is hugely entertaining.
