Film 012 - Caché (Hidden) (2005)

'Caché'

Director - Michael Haneke

A Parisian family are harassed and stalked by an unseen / unknown person first spying on them and then leading them to re-examine both their lives and the past.

Another incredible bit of film-making from Haneke, with his use of static camera angles this time becoming integral to the plot. He also does it again by not fully explaining all that goes on in the movie. As always this drove me mad for a while but I also loved how I was still thinking about it days later – which is somewhat ironic given the similar confusion and frustration felt by the protagonists.

Classic scene – The moment you first realise you’re watching what they’re watching (but you’ll have to see it to see what I mean. See?)…

Number of films seen so far from the Big List – 24
