Film 021 - Delicatessen (1991)

'Delicatessen'

Directed by - Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet

"A futuristic comic feast"

In an apocalyptic future where food is scarce and serves as the new currency, an ex-circus performer, Louison, arrives at an isolated apartment building to take on the role of handyman. There he discovers a group of residents, ruled over by the building's owner Misseuear Clapet who all share a dark secret that could cost Louison his life.

Caro and Jeunet's film is a dark comedy with a stylish nod to the clowns of the silver screen. The marvelous Dominique Pinon's Louison channels the amalgamated demeanor and skills of Chaplin, Keaton and Lloyd. As a result this tale of would be cannibalism is filled with excellent set pieces and humorous routines.

Favorite Scene - Louison and Mademoiselle Plusse locating the noisy bed-spring Hawaiian Hula-style...
